Best point I've heard anyone come up with so far: There was no cell network in the 20s, so a cellphone would be useless. Add to that: if they've got time travel tech, I'm sure they have blue tooth tech.
my thought that, on the rational, plausible end of things, the person has a small object in her hand, and is holding her lapel up to hide her face from the side. if you look at certain freeze frames, it looks like a lapel, as it matches the colour and texture of the coat, and what makes it look not like a lapel is the semi-illusion of separation you get from the light scarf.
the problem i have with the lapel, though, is that a hand would not hold a lapel like that. the spacing between the middle and ring fingers makes it look like there's an object being held. and there very well could be- though it's not necessarily a phone. a small object + lapel + talking to someone off camera could explain this.
she also looks like Winston Churchill to me, and the "cell phone" looks like a 1990's cordless home phone. will we ever know for sure? probably not. could there be a paranormal explanation? possibly. who cares, though, since we don't know? it's probably mundane, maybe it isn't, wotever.
