Dreams: In Layers
Dec. 1st, 2010 10:50 ami had a lucid dream, and woke up pretty excited about it. grabbing my notebook,
i ran down the hall and into the living room. i noticed one of the lamp shades
is missing from one of the lamps, which is kind of weird, because i was pretty
sure it was there earlier. but anyway, i jump onto the sofa and start writing
the lucid dream down while it's still super fresh in my mind, and i'm also
telling someone about it. i must have hit REM fast, because i feel like i was
only asleep for 5 minutes. the person i'm talking to was here when i said i was
going to sleep, so i ask them how long i was gone, but she seems kind of
confused. i clarify, and she agree i wasn't gone long, but it still seems like
she's confused.
writing the dream down, i start to narrate it in my head, but the version i'm
narrating becomes a daydream that's unfolding as i write... it's not true to the
events, either. it takes place in a different location, with events that never
happened, and i suddenly realize i'm not writing down the lucid dream at all.
i wake up.
there's no hall to my living room, no sofa, and no lamp with a lamp shade. and
i had to write my dream down again, on waking paper.
